13:56  Peruvian students win 2012 Doors to Diplomacy Award  
Lima, May 22 (ANDINA). High school students from Peru and Spain have won the U.S. State Department's “Doors to Diplomacy” Award for creating a website that raises awareness about global water issues.
Water, the New Petrol is the site built by a team from CEP Santa Rosa Brothers Marist School in Sullana, Peru and IES Manacor School in Mallorca, Spain.
Their web project aims to raise awareness of the current state of water issues in the world, according to a media note released by the U.S. State Department.
Jose Carlos and Fabricio from Peru and Mercè and Petra from Spain won this year's prestigious award along with a team from Riviera Beach Maritime Academy in Riviera Beach, Florida.
The awards, co-sponsored by Global SchoolNet, recognize the web projects that best teach young people about the importance of international affairs and diplomacy. Participants, ranging in age from 11 to 18, included 225 student teams from 38 countries.
